Welcome to Hell – Named after a protest march during the 2017 G20 summit in Hamburg, this project captures the diversity of protests throughout the city. I sought to document all sides of the movement, from peaceful marches to radical demonstrations, focusing on unconventional perspectives that reveal the complexity of the events.
Rather than adhering to traditional protest imagery, my aim was to showcase the raw energy, tension, and solidarity that defined the protests, highlighting both intense clashes with law enforcement and quieter moments of resolve.
Through these photographs, I present a nuanced view of the G20 protests in Hamburg, capturing the frustrations and motivations behind the desire for change. “Welcome to Hell” symbolizes the urgency and disillusionment felt by many as they confronted global political systems.
